Broken Hearts, Faithful Hearts, Joyful Hearts
Have you ever stood in a place and wondered just how many people might have stood in that same place before you?
Our cemeteries, courthouses, and history books are full of names and dates; generations’ worth of individuals who were born where we were born, lived where we live, and died where we will die. The lives of these human beings who tilled our soil and traveled our roads are often to us no more than ink splatters across a page or letters and numbers carved into pieces of granite; lost and forgotten.
Occasionally, we are reminded of their existence by those things they left behind; tangible items created long ago. In rare instances our predecessors leave us their words, voices from the past that confirm the realness of their lives. Whether we are aware of them or not, real individuals with lives full of love, of heartache, of trials and of faith have gone before us. They paved the way for us through their experiences and they should not be forgotten.
